Ceramide EOP is the ester-linked omega-hydroxy ceramide used as a barrier lipid, formerly listed as Ceramide 1. It is not a fragrance or emulsifier. There is no single CAS for the commercial grade. It is supplied as a white to off-white powder that dissolves in the oil phase when heated and is poorly soluble in water.

Formulation Guidelines

Follow these guidelines to melt Ceramide EOP into the oil phase.

• Suggested Use Level: Typical 0.05–0.5% in the finished formula
• pH Range: Suggested 5.0–7.0 for the finished emulsion
• Addition: Add to the oil phase and heat until dissolved, typically around 80°C
• Stability: Recheck for crystals after cool-down; the COA should state the assay
• Combine with Ceramide Np Powder when the chassis needs both Ceramide EOP and Ceramide NP.
